Delete Your Account & Data

Last updated: 21 September 2026 — covers the Bonakala Worker and Bonakala Employer apps

The short version:

Delete data stored only on your phone

By default, both apps store everything — your record of hours and pay, contracts, payslips, notes, and photos — locally on your device, never on our server. To remove it yourself, right now, with no request needed:

Delete your Cloud Backup account

If you turned on the optional Cloud Backup feature (Settings → Cloud Backup), we hold an account for you on our server: a username, a securely hashed password, and your encrypted backup blob. We cannot read the backup's contents, but we can delete the whole account on request.

In the app (instant): open Settings → Cloud Backup → "Delete account" and confirm. This removes the account and its encrypted backup from our server immediately — it cannot be undone.

By email (if you can't access the app): write to us with the username of the account you'd like deleted, and we'll action it by hand within a few business days.

What gets deleted, and what we keep

DataOn deletion request
Cloud Backup account (username, password hash)Deleted permanently
Encrypted backup blobDeleted permanently
Push-notification token (if registered)Deleted permanently
Anonymous, aggregate usage counts (Worker app only, via Umami — never tied to your name or account)Not tied to an account or identity, so there is nothing account-specific to delete
Data already on a paired device (e.g. a contract your employer or worker received)Stays on their device — deleting your account doesn't reach into someone else's phone

We don't retain backups of deleted accounts for any additional period — once actioned, the account and its data are gone from our server.
